Review – World War Robot Desert Combat Bertie
Say hello to World War Robot* Bertie number three in a series of seven awesome robot toys. We’ve already taken a close look at the Medic Bertie (review here) and the Deep Powder Bertie (review here), and the World War Robot Bertie 7 Pack master review, so I’m actually starting to run out of things to say. But that doesn’t keep the photos of the individual bots from being useful.
The Desert Combat Bertie is one of the cannon-carrying bots in the series (just like Deep Powder Bertie), and I took a shot of the backpack/pouch issue to show what I mean. (Photo below, right.) It’s not a major problem, but you can see the clip that the belt is intended to slot into and how the backpack extends below that point.
As always, the weathering is phenomenal. I love how there are different colorways that carrying across bot lines — Desert,, Medic, Red,, etc. — which gives collectors sublines to focus on. I’m not being quite that selective in my World War Robot toy choices (though I love the Reds), but I appreciate that there are collectors out there who want only a single series.
Closing Thoughts
Again, another great release. These Berties are pretty durable, fun toys that love to travel. See my Bertie set at Flickr for some outdoor shots. I don’t think the retail versions of these have started hitting stores, but if you want one I recommend finding a store and pre-ordering now. If these are anything like the Brambles then these will hit ridiculous prices on eBay by the end of the summer.
Four more Berties to go . . . and there are a lot more photos to share with you guys.
