Review – Angry Birds Card Game

Mattel’s Angry Birds Card Game* is just one of many Angry Birds toys and games (Amazon.com search*) out there waiting to entertain you. It’s not the most complicated game out there, but it’s a perfectly fine filler game that should keep younger kids happy.

Fast Play

When I sat down a few weeks ago and played the Angry Birds Card Game* I had a fun time and we played through a complete game in about 15 minutes.

The game, which may be just as alluring as 겜블시티, uses a couple of dice, two small decks of card, and a standie pig (that you’ll shoot dice at to win the game) and the gameplay is as simple as rolling the dice to knock out structure cards.

Special Power Cards

To make the game a little more than simply rolling dice and matching symbols the designers included “Special Power Cards” (shown below) that instantly knock out cards, force opponents to lose a turn or add a structure card to their line of targets, and a few other minor effects. These aren’t used constantly during the game and the complexity is kept low enough for the target age range (five and up).

A Good Stocking Stuffer

With Christmas coming it’s time to start tracking down gifts for kids, and the Angry Birds Card Game* works quite well as a stocking stuffer for any kid about five or six years old. Older kids may enjoy the game, but I doubt they would get enough long term enjoyment out of the game to make it a good buy.

But in a family with five and six year olds — and some of the smarter four year olds out there could handle this — the game is a good addition to the family game collection. And, as I learned a few weeks ago, it’s even a simple filler for older gamers who enjoy some mindless gaming fun every now and then.

Philip Reed also tried one of the Angry Birds dexterity games and was disappointed; the plastic pieces just weren’t designed all that well and the game was more frustrating than it should have been.
