Arm Your Transformers Swerve with “My First Blaster” and Blast Fun!
I’ve mentioned before that if you’re not reading IDW’s Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye (Amazon.com search*) and Transformers: Robots in Disguise (Amazon.com search*) comic books then you’re missing a lot of fun. An insane amount of fun! These are the best Transformers comics IDW has ever published.
Well, the third party Transformers makers out there have clearly noticed how much fun the comics are. We keep seeing more and more toys inspired by the comics, and this “My First Blaster” kit for Swerve from MakeToys is just one example of what the unofficial guys are up to. I shot pics for my Transforming Expectations book, and I figured I’d share the finished page and all of the pics of the weapon with you guys.

Along with iGear’s Kup heads, I think that Maketoys’ MFB is one of the absolute best third party transformers add on sets. It adds a lot to Swerve, whichever version you have. I added MFB to my Generations Swerve, and it totally completes the figure. I also think it was a terrific idea to leave the thing in unassembled kit form, and I hope Maketoys and other companies offer sets this way in the future. It definitely took the edge off of buying a $15 dollar gun as I sat there carefully putting all the little pieces together!
@rosewater – I had fun assembling the kit. Very easy to do and it turned out nice. I’d buy more like this.
I agree! I would buy more of these as MFB was a great add-on. You’ve scored a direct hit!
@Paul – So what other weapons should we see attempted in this format (kit)? Some of those giant guns from the Generation Two comics could be fun.
Argh, I don’t even buy that many Transformers (except this week…) and I still want that! MTMTE is so good…
