Section 43

Bits of battered space junk bounce into you as you hide in the debris field that rings the third planet of the Shadowmount System. You avoid the larger, more dangerous parts, but there’s no way to completely dodge the smaller, rain-like components of rock and metal. You powerdown several systems and go dark, taking advantage of your small size and the orbiting wreckage to hide as you carefully search the surface for the origin of the strange signal that brought you to the planet.

You’ve got basically two choices for locating the signal’s source. You can either remain patient and silent, hoping to detect the signal when it transmits again. Or, and it is admittedly risky, you could risk your own searcher burst and bathe the planet in a nanosecond long scan. There’s more of a chance that you’ll be detected if you activate your scanners, but it’s possible the signal source will only be found by an active search.
