Some ERP systems have dedicated user groups and communities that open up entire networks of industry innovators and dynamic brands. Check out TEC to get all the details.

For example, the Linux Foundation has its own networking group for the Linux operating system and, until recently, the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), has its own Internet community. The Linux Foundation’s software-development efforts are done in a manner that allows for ongoing cross-industry cooperation. The Linux Foundation and other communities have worked together to create the Linux Standard Base (LSB), a Linux framework, and now, to provide the foundation upon which to build the Linux Operating System, which will eventually power hundreds of millions of devices.

The world’s leading technology industry associations have their own standards bodies that act as a clearinghouse of expertise, ensuring that all vendors meet the highest industry standards.

In addition, leading network equipment manufacturers such as Cisco Systems and Juniper Networks are members of the Internet Society, the IT industry’s major trade association.

In addition to these, there are a host of other associations that work closely with these other organizations to set standards and develop technological standards.

Today, the industry is coming together at the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to work on standards for the next generation of computing devices. If your company designs, manufactures, or supports the equipment in millions of homes and businesses around the world, you are a W3C member.

W3C is an organization of nearly 5,000 companies around the world that contribute to the development of technology standards and user interfaces to help the world’s businesses and individuals access the Web. W3C’s work is in four areas: Web browsers, Web servers, multimedia protocols, and Web standards. Some of the companies and individuals who belong to the W3C are: Amazon.com, IBM, Intel, Mozilla, PayPal, Philips, Samsung, Telefonica, and Vodafone. The W3C has been an important force in the web’s development over the past decade. In addition to working on standards for the Web, the W3C works on a variety of technical topics, such as computer-generated graphics, the specification of electronic document exchange, multimedia standards, and the Internet.
