1962 and Stratego in Life Magazine

Yesterday I shared a 1997 Stratego game ad and today I want to go back even deeper into the Stratego (Amazon.com search*) game’s past. Say hello to the February 1962, issue of Life magazine and this full-page featuring the “Life Guide.” Under the heading of “Wars of Wits” is Life magazine’s take on Stratego. The article says of the game:

“From abroad comes an enormously popular Dutch game called Stratego. To capture the enemy’s flag you must thread your way with a sharp memory past spies and high-ranking field marshals, ducking bombs en route.”
