1972 Easy-Bake Oven Commercial
We look at a Kenner advertisement for the Easy-Bake Oven about a week ago, and today I want to marvel at the blatant commercialism and cross-promotion of this 1972 Easy-Bake Oven commercial. You may ask, “Why all of the Betty Crocker branding in this commercial for a toy?” Well, kids, this is from the age when General Mills, the owner of the Betty Crocker brand, also owned Kenner Toys. The book Playing By Different Rules*, explores the merger of General Mills and Parker Brothers, and since Kenner was a part of the General Mills Toy Group we also get some backstory on how Kenner operated under General Mills. Awesome read, and well worth chasing down . . . after you enjoy this commercial.
