1976 Gabriel Lone Ranger Product Catalog

This 1976 Gabriel Lone Ranger catalog arrived last year, shortly after reading Selling the Silver Bullet* inspired me to take another look at the line. I had intended to share the catalog long before today, but life . . . well, you know how it goes.

Enjoy these catalog pages, and then for more on the Gabriel Lone Ranger toys of the seventies don’t miss this feature post from 2013. Four years since I wrote that and I’ve managed to resist buying a bunch of the toys? Maybe I’ll be safe from the line after all.

  1. So, I’m new to the site, but, man, they were really trying to do something big with those figure sets. Almost like Figuarts, in terms of scope (but a lot cheaper, amirite?).

    1. @Sixshot was right – This line was incredible. The way they built adventure opportunities with the outfit sets always impressed me. Kinda like the Lone Ranger Adventure Team or something.

      1. That’s what I think is neat about a lot of toy lines lately: They’re starting to come out with backdrops and hidden bases more often again. I’m not too into the DC movie figures, for example, but the bat cave that was released (spotted at Walmart) had me reaching for my wallet (before the wife said “no”). It’s neat to see that. I would say that I wish the current TF lines did that, but I guess they did already with the larger bots having base alt modes.

  2. I absolutely loved this line as a wee 70s kid. I only owned the Ranger himself, but I had friends with the whole shebang. I remember seeing them at garage sales all through the 80s, and I kick myself for not knowing how much I would be wanting to own them 30 years later. 🙂

  3. That’s so cool. I had the Hidden Rattler set but I only have the vaguest of memories of it. I seem to recall finding the cow skull years later and thinking it was a Jaws (the Buckaroo-type game) piece…

  4. The failure of The Lone Ranger movie made me sad. It felt like watching a once hugely popular pop culture character reach the end of the road. I doubt anyone’s going to remember him in, say, 50 years.

  5. I had the Lone Ranger and Silver as a kid. I don’t recall what happened to LR, but eventually Luke Skywalker commandeered him as a companion. I too was sad when the new Ranger movie didn’t do well (and for good reason, it was a mess). However, when the theme song began and started that huge action scene–it really improved.
