1976 Mattel Space: 1999 Eagle

I had this toy! The Space: 1999 Eagle 1 spaceship toy is massive, and I can remember finding this at a garage sale in 1983 and using it with my Star Wars action figures that summer. It is a beast of a toy; I carried it everywhere for a few months, Star Wars figures crammed into every nook and cranny of the spaceship. Man, I’d love to have this again today.

I’d love it even more if I could find a packaged Eagle 1 for the $13.99 price seen in this 1976 newspaper ad. I suspect it would cost a bit more than that to buy one of these today.
