1977 Star Wars Movie Review!
Later this year, Star Wars celebrates 40 years. 40 years? Can you believe it has been so long since the movie was new? I can remember way back then, when I was a kid, wanting to see the movie and then, after watching it, being completely absorbed by everything Star Wars. I received the Marvel comic (a big collection) for Christmas, and my very first figure was a Jawa (no, not vinyl). For most of my memory, Star Wars has been there.
And that makes discoveries like this 1977 newspaper review of the film so very fun. Hell, I didn’t even understand the concept of a “movie review” when this was first published, so pretty much everything in this article would have been way beyond me at the time. But Star Wars I got, and I got it hard. I had no troubles at all understanding the film that first time that I saw it.

Saw SW for the first time in 1995 when I was 9 or 10. It was coming out on VHS for the first time in years, so the films were (ironically) being heavily broadcast on Australian TV.
Life was never the same again; only a handful of things have ever impacted my life in the same way. I hope I get to thank George Lucas in person one day, unlikely as that may be.
