1982 Ad for Kenner’s “The Empire Strikes Back” Toys
There are so many fantastic archives out there that it’s easy to overlook some fantastic things. For example, the back cover of The Goblin from Warren Publishing features this color advertisement for Kenner’s Empire Strikes Back toys. Seriously, the Tauntaun was only a dollar less than the Cloud Car? That seems off to me.
Well, if we look at the Tauntaun newspaper ad I posted a few months ago we see that magazine price is a dollar more than retail stores. I guess that’s the price of mail order toys in the eighties? Pay more than at retail? Amazing how the internet has flipped that around and now mail order is usually less than going to the store.
