1982 Kenner Star Wars Collection C-3PO with Removable Limbs Commercial
Wait a second. Did Kenner really sink resources into a toy commercial only to show off their C-3PO with Removable Limbs action figure? A commercial for a vehicle or two — or even for a selection of new action figures — completely makes sense to me, but a thirty second spot devoted almost entirely to a toy that comes apart and can be carried in a cheap vinyl bag?
Wow. Kenner really was bringing in the big bucks when I was a kid.

This 3PO is one of the few Star Wars figures that survived my childhood mostly intact. And my mom was smart enough to buy 2 of them of, keeping on in the blister, which I still have.
Yet this C-3PO did suffer a gruesome fate as I watched one of his arms go down the bathtub drain. I screamed. I yelled. I probably cried, but nothing could save his arm. After that, he was just permanently battle damaged. Poor 3PO.
