1982 Not Quite Star Wars Artwork

Looking through the March, 1982, issue of Electronic Games Magazine I ran across a full-page painting opening a section titled “Players Guide to Electronic Science Fiction Games.” The article itself is enjoyable and all, but what’s especially exciting is this full-page painting the shows an almost X-Wing and TIE Fighter in battle.

Here’s the artwork after I pulled it into Photoshop and made a few tweaks to the color and lower left corner. Damn, now I am left asking: Just how many awesome paintings of not-quite-Star Wars artwork from this era are out in the wild?
