1982 Star Frontiers Ad
A year ago today I posted an ad for TSR’s Star Frontiers roleplaying game (Amazon.com search*) and mentioned how that wasn’t one of TSR’s better ads of the time. Well, it seems that I may have spoken too soon because this 1982 ad from the first issue of the Masters of the Universe mini-series is even weaker; I can’t be so sure that this ad would have made me — ten years old at the time — rush out and buy the game.
Man, that’s so SAD. Larry Elmore made one awesome cover for the boxed set–and that’s the only piece of art in black and white in the ad! UGH!
@Jay – I love the Al Williamson-like art in the ad.
It is odd they chose to run that cover in B&W. Maybe they couldn’t get a good reproduction of the cover art in color on the cheap comic paper?
