1984 Arco Go-Bots Ro-Gun Transforming Robot Toys
I’ve shared other newspaper ads for the Ro-Gun cheap transforming robot toy before (here and here), so this certainly isn’t the first time that we’ve seen the toy, but the timing and price on this 1984 newspaper ad (scroll to p. 28) has me questioning just how many versions of the toy exist. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a definitive resource online for the toy, so more research is required.
The small pistols came in some different colors and were for sure branded with both Gobots and Robotech stickers and packaging. The transforming binocular role play item also came out with Robotech branding as well as Gobots. Also, Ro-Gun alone seems to be a label Arco used itself on both the pistols and larger rifles as well as the 1.5″ bagged plastic figures.
