This 1984 Barbie newspaper ad comes from a time before the death spiral of the once-popular fashion doll, from a decade when Barbie was still one of the top toys. I’ve no idea why Barbie struggles today — I am sure Mattel has brains far smarter than my own at work on the trouble — but I can say that it is sad to see the line in such terrible shape today.
