1984 GoBots Mail-Away Offer
Within the pages of Each Sold Separately* and Action Figures Not Included*, I took a peek at mail-away toy offers of the eighties and how those offers drove us to mad levels of excitement. The mail-away offer is kinda over these days, but as this 1984 GoBots commercial shows us there was a time when collecting proof-of-purchase points and sending away for a new toy was a common part of life as a kid.

I’m lucky enough to own this one – although I didn’t mail away for him. I found him at a toy show a few years back and the guy selling him had no idea who the GoBot was (fortunately I did) so I got him for like a buck or some ridiculous cheap amount like that.
