1986 Newspaper Ad for the G.I. Joe Aircraft Carrier
Go to the store these days and G.I. Joe action figures (find at Amazon.com*) are not all that easy to find. Sure, ToysRUs has a small sampling of the toys for sale, but there’s nowhere near the range of figures and vehicles that were available when this ToysRUs newspaper ad was new. And look, kids, at just what Hasbro was able to do back in the eighties!
That’s right. When G.I. Joe was a top seller in the eighties, Hasbro went so far as to design and release an aircraft carrier playset that was over seven feet long. And this ad shows you just how much the U.S.S. Flagg playset cost for Christmas in 1986. Who out there is willing to buy one of these for even four or five times this price today? Lots of us, I bet, because the toy sells for way more than that . . . if you can even find it.

That USS Flagg box in the vacant storefront by your crappy hotel in Saint Paul is gone! Never will we know if the ship was still inside!
@John Maddening – That had to have been empty, right? I mean, I sure hope it was empty!
