1987 BattleTech Advertisement “Stand & Deliver!”

This advertisement for the BattleTech Technical Readout 3025* is special in one way: This comes from the first issue of the Blackthorne Publishing BattleForce comic book, one of two comic lines the company published in support of the BattleTech game back in the eighties. Those old “Technical Readout” books were fantastically enjoyable to read through when I was a kid, with each book packed with fantastic giant robot artwork and all of the game stats we could ask for, and this ad for the book makes me ask one simple question: Why didn’t they use the line art from inside the book for this ad design?
