1987 He-Man “Escape the Past” Commercial
The Mattel Masters of the Universe action figures of the eighties hit a rough time when the sales plummeted and stores everywhere were overstocked with action figures, vehicles, playsets, and everything He-Man under the sun.
“Then in 1987, MOTU sales make like a kamikaze pilot in a nosedive, plunging to a heart-wrenching $7 million. All I can say is, the levela of peptic stress in corporate boardrooms skyrocket when you go from $400 million one year to $7 million the next.”

And despite the neat-looking designs of the action figures in this 1987 He-Man commercial, this series spelled the end of the classic eighties Masters of the Universe action figures. I suppose all we can do today is look back and shake out heads sadly . . . and hope that Mattel gives one of these massive dinosaurs a shot before the latest incarnation of He-Man is closed down.
