1989 and Lunch Box Selection
A few years ago I took a look at Lunchbox, Inside and Out* (reading post here), and ever since then I’ve stolen peeks at lunchboxes here and there when given the opportunity. I recently realized that running a search for “lunchbox” in the Google newspaper archives could prove entertaining. I was right.
This September 4, 1989, article in the Sun Journal — written by Linda Shrieves of the Orlando Sentinel — tells us that kids choose their lunchboxes as a public representation of their likes. I’m sure we all knew that, but I’m also sure that many of you will get a kick out of reading a newspaper article in which Mad Balls, G.I. Joe, Dino Riders, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles all make an appearance.
