1989 Dungeons & Dragons Monstrous Compendium Comic Advertisement
The back cover of a DC Detective Comics issue from 1989 (#606, if you’re seeking out the original comic) included this full-page ad for TSR’s AD&D Monstrous Compendiums*, making this a great companion to the 1991 rebate offer we saw last year. That puts it at roughly two years of sales before TSR admitted that the 3-ring binder approach wasn’t working. It sure sounded cool to me, but I can admit that the idea never took off with fans.
