1992 Dream Park RPG Promotional Insert
R. Talsorian’s Dream Park RPG*, published in 1992, translated the Larry Niven and Steve Barnes novels into roleplaying game fun. I had a copy of the game many, many years ago, but never did more than read the rules and get a feel for the concept and system. The basic idea is that players generate characters who then play characters inside virtual worlds. Yeah, it gets a little unusual.
This promotional flyer comes from a 1992 issue of Vortext magazine, a short-lived roleplaying game magazine that mostly focused on sci-fi games. As you can see, R. Talsorian put a lot of effort into showing off the game’s concepts and trying to persuade players to give the game a try, and despite how cool the insert looks, it never went all that far with only a handful of supplements released.
Fun to run across this insert, even if it does just make me want to chase down the game again and get a closer look at the rules. It has been well over a decade since I last had my hands on the book, so I remember very little about it. It can’t be that tough to find a copy these days, right?
