1993 “Images of Shadowhawk” Trading Card from Advance Comics
I’ve mentioned the Images of Shadowhawk series before (posted here), and today I’d like to direct your attention to this 1993 trading card promoting the Images of Shadowhawk series. This trading card comes from Advance Comics, the old Previews-equivalent from Capital City Distribution. Does anyone else remember the days before Diamond dominated the comic industry’s distribution?
What happened to Capital City and Advance Comics? As Wikipedia tells us, Diamond ate them. That mid-nineties comic industry convergence and collapse of the fad-driven market sure played hell with the entire industry at the time (and has the comic industry ever really recovered?).
Anyway, this trading card was just one way in which Advance Comics competed. Notice it’s listed as #2 in a series of twelve different cards. Want to see the other cards? Take a look at this tradingcardspace.com gallery. Now to figure out how many of those I have sitting in the stack of Image trading cards . . .
