1997 Newspaper Article on Star Wars Action Figures Mentions “Shadows of the Empire”
A 1997 Fort Worth Star-Telegram newspaper article doesn’t have the friendliest of words for Kenner’s action figures or the Shadows of the Empire (Amazon.com search*) novel.
The article, released alongside a larger piece about the Special Edition Star Wars movies, says of the novel:
What could have been a wickedly humorous book “noir” is instead an awkward smattering of scenes stolen from the original movies, thrown together and passed off as an original story. The novel, however bad, has spawned a comic book series, a Nintendo 64 game and a number of toys.
