2002 Hasbro Transformers Armada Comic Ad
Promoting the Transformers Armada* series, this 2002 advertisement from the first issue of Dreamwave’s Transformers Armada comics shows off Optimus Prime, Starscream, Cyclonus, and other toys in the line. Love the look of this ad, with a mix of artwork and photos of the toys. And seeing that Hasbro logo on an ad in a comic book? Yeah, that’s awesome. We need so see more of that.
I was about to mention how I miss seeing Hasbro’s ads in the IDW Transformers comic books and then stopped and realized that it has been about five years since I last bought a single book. These days I just buy the collections, so for all I know Hasbro runs toy ads in every single Transformers comic book that’s published these days. I’ll just pretend that’s what is happening and that Hasbro avoids running ads in the trade paperbacks for some reason that’s secret to the world.
