It was only through Mattel’s efforts in the late seventies that the Shogun Warriors (Amazon.com search*) even captured a wide number of kids’ minds, and seeing ads like this one at Plaid Stallions shows very clearly how Mattel’s marketing worked. Just show kids awesome robots and then step aside as they grab toys.
