Spotted Online – 1985 Sears Christmas Catalog

Merry Christmas, gang! Let’s take a step back into time and explore the 1985 Sears Wish Book. By Christmas morning in 1985 I’d already worn this catalog down to the point that it was falling apart because I had spent weeks flipping through it and dreaming of what I was gonna get for Christmas.

I didn’t get the Flagg, but I did have a Snow Cat. What I’d love today, though, are those Sears exclusive Crimson Guard vehicles. Exclusives were a lot easier to get back in those days then they are today; catalogs were the place for the weirder stuff like this.

Scanning through the pages in this catalog is a great way to spend Christmas morning while you’re awake and waiting for everyone else. Have fun poking at the pages, guys, and try not to find too many awesome toys from 1985 that send you rushing to explore eBay today.

  1. The price was hard to make out for that U.S. Flagg. What was it about $300? Adjusted for inflation, what cost $300.00 in 1985 would cost $592.61 in 2008 but that calculator didn’t take into account for oil costs.

A 7′ long SHIELD hover carrier still seems like the obvious offspring of that thing though 🙂
