Spotted Online – Polymer Clay Designs from Sleepy Robot 13
Over at Etsy you can find all kinds of crazy things, from jewelry to dressed to toys, and if you poke around long enough then you can even find clay robot toys from Sleepy Robot 13.
Cute little guys, and they’re not even all robots. The latest clay toys from Sleepy Robot 13 are Bad Brian, blind box toys about 3-inches tall and ready to cause destruction.
“”Ah, to be a kid again… Destructive and hopped up on sugar!” He doesn’t know why he does the things he does (although it could have something to do with the 5 donuts & 3 energy drinks he had for breakfast.) Brian is the best candidate for Ritalin we have ever seen!”
But as cute as Bad Brian looks, it’s the robot toys that have me most excited. Including such great designs as I Luv U Pig Robot and I Luv U Taco Robot.
I’m not sure I completely understand the thought process behind clay toys — wouldn’t it be better to cast these things in resin and sell ten or so of each design? — but I love the fact that so many artists are getting the chance to design and sell their own toys.
I don’t know how long the designer toy scene is going to hold out, but for the moment it’s still a growing market and a place open to new artists and designs. And that’s cool with me.

Some people just make the coolest stuff with polymer clay. Those Bad Brian’s are priceless! The sleepy robots are so adorable, it is impossible not to fall in love with them, too!
