Idolz Toys at New York Toy Fair
Wandering down one of the aisles at the New York Toy Fair I had to stop at a booth that was showing off short, stackable, and fun toys. Idolz Toys is a fairly new company with a platform toy that blurs the lines between wearable art, action figure, and designer toy collectible.
I spent some time chatting with Damien Noble, president of Idolz Toys, and he struck me as a cool guy who was living a dream of producing toys of his own. I can totally relate to that, and as soon as I saw that he had a blank, white version of the toy I asked if he was selling DIY versions. The answer is no, but I’m gonna bug him to at least release a run of 100 or so DIY editions on their website.
After all, as soon as I saw these I realized that I wanted to use the body, rip off the arms and feet, and construct a wacky custom toy using the base and a mound of Glyos System (Onell Design) parts.
Check these out, guys. It’s a fun toy with a great design and the limited figure, Gruntor, is available now.
