I Feel Guilty

Thanks to reader Nick (Twitter) I now have an Iron Man 2 Hulkbuster, but in thinking about my trip to Target I feel a little guilty about how I managed to score one. Nick notified me through Twitter that a Target in Austin had Hulkbusters and he moved them to the back of the pegs for me so I set off to Target.

As I reached the Iron Man 2 action figure display in Target I noticed someone else starting to search the pegs. I started looking at the back of the pegs beside the ones he was searching, but the overstocked pegs led to figures falling off the rack as I snagged the last Hulkbuster and then a Guardsman.

Thinking back about how that went down I feel a bit guilty. By digging right to the back, and knocking some toys off, I had to look like a rude geek to the other shopper. Knocking toys down was completely unintentional (and I picked them up), but what’s the proper etiquette for toy shopping when someone else is looking through the same display? Should I have waited until he finished examining the available figures?

Man, now I feel like a jerk.

  1. Everyman for himself! hehehehe. I cant count the times where I have seen a fellow collector load up on a whole pegs worth of a new toy wave and I get nothing left for me. Sometimes we gotta look like Ubernerds to get our plastic fix. It could be worse, I could have hidden them somewhere else in the store and no one else would have even had a shot at him.

  2. Don’t feel to bad, it’s not like you’re going to ebay it. It’s good you feel remorse & sadness because that means you still have a heart. I’ve seen collectors/ scalpers buy every single toy on the pegs because it was a store exclusive.

  3. Its the nature of the beast. The other dude should have parked in the handicap. Then maybe he could have beaten you to it. Hope you got to use your $5 off coupon.
