Battlestar Galatica Viper Launch Station

I think what they’re trying to say is that this toy is in no way fun if you plan to use it as an actual launch station for the cooler Viper toys. I remember owning a Viper back in the late 70s — you can see it at this page on Virtual Toy Chest — and played with it until it fell apart. But I never had this massive piece that was little more than a catapult toy.

  1. I got that for Hanukkah in 1978, along with practically the entire collection of ships with mini-figures (I was missing the Stellar Probe). In fact, out of that first batch of toys, the only other BSG toy I was missing was the 12″ Colonial Warrior, I had the Cylon.

It was pretty fun to play with as a kid as I recall. I still have snapshots somewhere of me playing in front of my apartment building in LA with the thing. It was a damn big piece of plastic too, and heavy.

But it didn’t last at all, the Vipers were foam with a plastic skeleton and they died quicky. I don’t even remember the Cylon Targets, so that shows you how long they lasted.
