Fisher-Price Adventure People “Opticon” at eBay
The Fisher-Price Adventure People was a great series of action figures from the late seventies and early eighties that (dare I say?) any child of the time encountered and likely played with. Camping, racing, diving, star travel . . . the Adventure People covered it all. Including weird robots, with Opticon. And now there’s a loose Opticon on eBay and it’s tempting. But I’m waiting for a packaged version of the toy.
Fantastic fun from the early eighties. For more about the Adventure People series see the FPClub website — including this page of photos — and don’t miss 1983 catalog at Plaid Stallions.
And don’t miss my Adventure People X-Ray Woman review from last year. And I even mentioned Opticon in that review (not that it matters).
You think you know a toyline pretty well and then you see a post like this one…thanks for being informative, Phil! I must not search these out on eBay. I must not.
@DoctorKent – Happy to help corrupt you. I’d love to find one of these still packaged; the blister pack artwork is beautiful.
I only had one of the space time figures from this line, and it wasn’t this one. What a bizarre figure.
@Engineernerd – The question is, though, does seeing Opticon here make you want one?
I still have this Robot Opticon action figure, along with many of the other Adventure People figures. Some of the space and robot figures that I have are the Brainoid, X-Ray Man and Woman, Clawtron, AstroKnight Blue and Tan, Alpha Probe figures, Space Commander, Alpha Recon and Firestar 1 Astronauts.
