Guest Post – When Tragedy Strikes: A Broken Action Figure

I have a 6″ scale Stargirl action figure. Miss Whitmore’s arm fell off about a week ago and I’ve been puzzling over what to do to fix this. I figured I’d put it off until the weekend when I could devote my full attention to it. This way, less mistakes (and damage) would be made to the figure as a whole.

I first noticed that the peg that held the arm in place is still fully intact. Phew! Good news for me because I don’t have to 1) Try and fashion another one, and 2) I can try and restore the arms full articulation instead of just gluing it back on.

I tried a pair of tweezers for gently squeezing the peg back into place, but no luck. Just not strong enough. Pliers seemed too much, especially since I didn’t want to break the arm, so I got out my wire trimmer/shaper.

Worked perfectly! Her arm works just as before. Unfortunately there was a little scarring on the peg and the peg hole, but oh well. At least I now have a repaired Stargirl!
