Spotted Online – Rodimus Prime Prototype from the Eighties

After my less-than-favorable Protector Armor review (review here) you may have been left with the impression that I hate Rodimus Prime. Not at all, but I can’t say that I absolutely love the character, either. But these Hyper Hobby scans make me think that if Hasbro/Takara had proceeded with their original Rodimus Prime vision in the eighties I might like the character better today.

That massive base/communications station looks cooler to me than the final battle platform actually turned out. Too bad Fansproject didn’t have these photos when they started work on their own Rodimus armor project; I suspect I would have liked to have seen this tower/base more than I did the tank/weapons station that we got.

Or not. But either way, it’s cool to see this old prototype.
