Transformers at Target
The Captain America line was pretty picked over — all of the basic figures were gone — but the Transformers selection at the Target near my hotel looked quite extensive.
I skipped Shockwave because he doesn’t look quite right to me, but Powerglide was a grab. Shockingly there was also a Transformers Generations Kup in the store.
If I wasn’t so tired I’d rip open Powerglide and post a review, but after yesterday’s schedule, four hours of sleep, and a 12 mile walk across LA I think I’ll spend the evening reading a book and relaxing.
Go check your local Target if you want to find these toys, because word is Target got them out nationwide yesterday.
There was a small selection of Captain America figures at our Target, including a couple I would be interested in — the WWII one, and the parachuting one — which I will pick up if I can find ones with better paint applications than the ones on the shelf.
Sign of the times. Action Figs being produced and sold by Hasbro/Mattel these days are UNDERWHELMING at best. Smaller, cheaper construction, less detailed, etc. I understand to keep costs down and so on. Thank goodness we still have the smaller independent companies like Onell and 3A. I’d rather spend more to get more. The Cap figs are across the board, terrible. And where are our Destroyer figs from Thor? Just goes to show you that we will buy what they are selling, OR NOT!
Can anybody explain why I saw GOBOTS on the shelves along with the Transformers toys? Did Hasbro buy the rights/manufacturer or something? And are they the real deal or are they just attaching the Gobot name to the Transformers now?
The Targets in Southwest washington seem to be sitting this one out, and one is remodeling completely, so toy section is decimated.
Had much more success at Wal-Mart and Toys R us.
@lok – Hasbro has owned the Gobots name (and maybe fiction? They don’t have rights to the old figures) since they acquired Tonka, they roll it out every so often:

Goodie, toys coming in. Pity my wallet’s gonna be tight for a couple months.
yeah, my WalMart here in Colorado had a bunch of the new line out when we did groceries about 3AM Teusday morning (My roomie works swings), so I picked up a Powerglide for myself at last. Now if I could just find a Warpath somewhere…
Thanks Seth. I wasn’t sure what was going on there…
BTW, my local Walmart has a MASSIVE display on one of the aisle caps. And about half a wall in the action figures section. Which is annoying given they’ve no new MU, Captain America or GI Joe toys…
