Spotted Online – The Trash Pack Reviewed at That Figures
The Trash Pack “Trashies” (buy at Amazon.com*) is a new series of blind-packaged soft toys that draws inspiration from the Garbage Pail Kids and M.U.S.C.L.E.-like toys. I’ve seen some fairly rough comments about the toys in the series, but the few that I’ve played with seemed neat enough to me.
But rather than random online comments I suggest that you see this review at That Figures for a closer look at the toys and packaging. Reading the review makes me realize that I should really write one of my own — I don’t agree with all of the points in the review — but that’s not gonna happen any day soon so for now see the review and then see the official website.

I think a big part of the problem I had with my Trashies experience was that the two I got were incredibly unimaginative in terms of design and execution. One of the things I love about collectible/blind-bag toys is the element of surprise and whilst I had no idea which figures my pack contained, once I’d opened the pack there was no surprise or unexpected element to them.
Next time I’m in TRU I’ll probably pick up another pack to double-check – I may get some better ones next time – but I did find them pretty disappointing, especially when you compare them to something like the Gogo’s Crazy Bones figures, which are always a delight.
I grabbed a 2-pack of these when I first saw them, they’re okay little random toy things, but nothing insanely cool. My first thoughts were the Trash Bag Bunch from the mid-90’s & these being closer to Mel Birnkrant’s original concept, but such was not the case. The little garbage cans are neat though, useful as props for photos.
