Kickstarter – Miskatonic School for Girls Deck Building Game
If you’re not deep into hobby gaming then there’s a really good chance that the entire “deck building” game phenomenon of the last few years has never even crossed your path. What started with Dominion* has grown into a fairly large style of game with several different games on the market. At its core a deck building game takes the concept of deck construction from collectible card games and turns it into a game on its own, with players using resources to buy cards for their deck from a common pool of cards. It can be fun to construct engines while racing to a win and the gameplay is usually not too complicated.
And now there’s a new twist on the concept. The Miskatonic School for Girls Deck Building Game that’s about to close at Kickstarter looks fantastic and adds in the mechanic of building your opponents’ decks. I’m backing this one because the art is cool, the designer has a record of creating good games, and I really want to see how the game works. This won’t ship until next year but it could make a good gift for any of your friends who are into card and board gaming.
