Tool’s Parabol + Parabola

One thing that the recent Fall of Cybertron trailer (mentioned here) did for me was get me to pull out all of my Tool albums and start listening to them again after a few years without them. It has been such a solid mass of constant Tool for me that I even took the CDs with me on my trip to Boston last week and played them while driving around the state.

Of all of the albums that band has released in almost two decades I’m starting to think that I’m ranking Lateralus* as my favorite. I remember when the album was first released being happy with it, but not completely loving it. Well, that has changed in the decade since the album’s release. And of all of the tracks on the album I think that six and seven, Parabol and Parabola, with one building to the other, stand out as my favorites and I consider them to be a single song.

You aren’t familiar with these two songs? Listen to them right now. And even if you know the songs I suggest playing them because both are incredible works that fit together perfectly. Anyway, time for me to drive to the office . . . and I’m sure you know what I’ll be playing for the drive to work.
