Spotted Online – John Wagner Talks “Dredd”

There’s a new Judge Dredd movie coming out this September (last mentioned here), and the LA Times has an interview with John Wagner, Judge Dredd creator and author. An entertaining read, but I’m going to go on record as saying that I think that the Stallone Judge Dredd* film from 1995 was entertaining. Perfect? Not at all. But I think that it was (is) brainless fun.

About the new film, Wagner says:

The plot is about Dredd and his world. It’s impossible to cover every aspect of the character and his city – perhaps that was one of the failings of the first film; they tried to do too much and ended up with not a lot. “Dredd” homes in on the essential job of judging – instant justice in a violent future city.

Unfortunately, that’s pretty vague and doesn’t really do anything to make me better understand what the new film is about. But I will say that so long as the trailer doesn’t suck or do anything to drive me away then I’m gonna give the new movie a shot once it’s out.

  1. I had fun watching the original movie also. I loved the ABC robot; those were some of my favorite parts in that movie.

This is the 1st I’ve seen of there being a new Judge Dredd film getting made, I heard rumor about it so I’d glad it’s actually happening. The costume looks good too.
