Spotted Online – TFC Toys Planning Unofficial Transformers Technobots
Despite Hasbro’s recent actions to prevent unofficial toys from being sold at Botcon (first mentioned here), the makers of the unofficial Transformers Constructicon toys — battlegrip.com reviews: Structor review here, Heavy Labor review here, Exgraver review here and TFSource review: Neckbreaker review here — are showing sketches for a series of unofficial Technobots toys. Scattershot was revealed a few days ago (see this post at Seibertron) and the sketch looks like a wonderful interpretation of the original Generation One design.
But it’s got to be the earlier-revealed Strafe (see this post at Seibertron) that really has me hoping this series of toys gets made. After the fantastic work sunk into the Hercules series I’m ready to order the entire set of unofficial Technobots . . . as long as they are in their proper Generation One colors.
What I find most interesting about the sketch of Strafe is how similar it is to a 3d render of the character that was posted to TFW2005 last spring. The two are not identical matches, but there’s enough similarities — and not just because both were inspired by the same eighties toy — that makes me think that TFC Toys likely looked closely at these images. But whatever happened it’s kinda neat that we may get new combining Technobots.
