Utilizing the latest in digital sculpting technology, Yamato’s Fantasy Figure Gallery (in collaboration with Jerry Macaluso’s Pop Culture Shock Collectibles, with a hand-sculpted face by Shin Tanabe) presents one of master Sorayama’s famous “sexy robots” – anatomically correct female robots appearing to be fashioned of molten silver. This plastic statue of Sorayama’s sexy robot stands about 22-inches tall and includes a specially designed base, numbered name plate, art card, and certificate of authenticity, all packaged in a collector-style window box.

Whoa, yeah. That’s a little too uncanny valley for my tastes. If the face was more Metropolis and all the flesh-colored parts were metallic, it would be fine. Well, fine, but not “drop 200+ dollars on it” fine. The first one in the series doesn’t work for me either, because it’s weird Cylon face combined with the pink swimsuit weirds me out in a different way. Obviously I am not the target market for these.
That will haunt my dreams for years to come.
