Spotted Online – Batman: Death by Design Reactions at CBR
The new Batman graphic novel, Death by Design* by Chip Kidd and Dave Taylor, looks fascinating and I’ll certainly be trying it out. But, before I even get my hands on a copy, I see that Comic Book Resources has a post in which they collect reactions/review snippets from around the web. The reviews are a bit all over the place, ranging from slight unhappiness with the simplicity of the plot to love for the look and design of the book, and everything I’ve seen and read makes me want to give this book a shot.
And don’t miss this art preview at Comics Alliance. Yeah, I can see by the images that artists were behind the creation of this book. Everything looks quite stylized and amazing.
It turns out we’re not the only ones with more than a passing interest in the architecture-based approach to Batman: Death by Design. The book’s writer, award-winning graphic designer Chip Kidd, presented the project to a fascinated crowd of fellow graphic artists at PIVOT: AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts) Design Conference this past October. Expanding on what we already know about the Dave Taylor-illustrated book and offering many new details and artwork besides, Kidd took his audience through the book’s first 20 pages.
