Spotted Online – Papo Fantasy Figures
I place all of the blame for this on October Toys forum user ersico and this thread at the forums. I was happily living life completely unaware of the Papo line of fantasy figures until that thread made me aware of what appears to be a very cool line of toys. To see what I’m talking about check Happy Hen Toys, The Big Castle, and this Amazon.com search* for a look at several different toys.
I have no idea what sort of quality these toys are, but reportedly you can sometimes find them at Michael’s and ToysRUs so at the very least I need to track down one or two of the toys and get a close look at them. They’re obviously way to neat for me to ignore them now that I know they’re out there somewhere.
And I don’t see how Dungeons & Dragons fans could ignore this line . . .
I saw a few of these at Terra Toys on Burnet. I believe they had the alligator, gorilla & ram figures. This was months ago, but I’m pretty sure you could find a few still on the shelf!
I’ve been a fan of the Papo, Schleigh, and Safari figures for several years now. Not everything is great, but they each have some really nice sculpts. What they lack in articulation they often make up for in spades when it comes to paint apps.
Papo had a dwarf king for a while that made for a tremendous “giant” when his scale is taken into account with the usual 25mm minis at the table. And you can’t beat any of their dragons for the money –$12 for what would be a HUGE mini? C’mon! 🙂
