Skipping the Resorts in Cancun

Last year in Cancun, Gina and I stayed at a resort in the Cancun Hotel Zone, a stretch of beach where everything is designed around tourists. This year, to make things a bit more fun, we’re staying in downtown Cancun, in a spot where the locals work, live, and eat.

And man, if the tacos we had last night are any indication of the quality of the food here I can report that the locals eat very well. Tasty as hell, inexpensive, and fast service. Yes, I am quite happy that we decided to skip the resorts and stay downtown.

Today we are heading out to a nearby island to see a pirate’s home, an ancient cemetery, and to do whatever looks fun. I have some photos from yesterday on the camera, but downloading those will come later. Photos of what? Well, Spider-Man toys in cereal for one. Yes, real toys inside cereal boxes. And I should buy a box to get the toy.
