Art Books at an Art Supply Store

Ever since I was a little kid I’ve been excited by “how to draw” books. The way those books make it so very simple to draw a few circles and boxes and then transform the shapes into a robot, spaceship, or dragon has always fascinated me . . . and even today I always have to stop and flip through these books when I run into them.

Here in San Diego two books caught my eye. How to Draw Steampunk* just reinforces how popular the steampunk genre has become over the last few years and I am betting that this is a fairly strong seller at the moment. It sure looked fun enough when I flipped through a copy.

The other “how to” book that caught my eye at the store was Draw & Paint Fantasy Art Warriors & Heroes*, which covers not only drawing but also adding color the the work. Looked neat and flipping through it soon had me searching for the publisher; take a look at their official website for art books on a lot of subjects.

Awesome books, and seeing them kinda makes me wish I had weeks just to lock myself in a room and draw all day every day. But we all know that’s not going to happen so I’ll instead just be happy with the few random times that I get to scribble out an idea on paper. Maybe I’ll get a bit more time to draw if I cut back on something else . . . but what could I cut from an already overloaded day?
