Scott Morse Sketched MODOK for me at Trickster

Comic artist Scott Morse (blog, Twitter) was at the Trickster (official website) event when I stopped by yesterday and he did me a huge favor and sketched MODOK as a gangster in the copy of Crime and Terror that I bought.

Morse, if you’re unfamiliar with his work, is the creator who brought us the absolutely stunning Strange Science Fantasy* and, as I learned, is extremely friendly and doesn’t blink at all when asked questions like: “Will you sketch MODOK as a gangster in my book?”

Any of you still at San Diego Comic Con today must visit Trickster (official website) for a really fun experience. Trickster, if you haven’t heard, is an off-site event where several comic creators have gotten together to offer their works.

Trickster is completely free to get in and, after visiting, I can say that I spent more at the Trickster event than I did in the proper SDCC exhibit hall. There’s a wide variety of sketch books, trade paperbacks, art prints, and I even encountered Rob Salkowitz (website, Twitter) — author of Comic-Con and the Business of Pop Culture* — at the event and had an excellent time chatting with him.

Thanks, Scott, for the sketch. And thanks for being so cool about me crashing the interview.
