Spotted Online – Masters of the Universe Manta Raider at Power-Con

Yesterday morning I wrote about how I feel we’ll see third party manufacturers step in as Mattel steps down from Masters of the Universe (post here). A few comments here and there disagreed with me, and the resulting Twitter discussion between myself and Doctor Kent was enjoyable and made me happy I wrote my thoughts.

Well, timing is everything because last night artist Joe Amaro posted on his blog that the unofficial Masters of the Universe Manta Raider that he designed — posted at MTV Geek — will be made available to purchase at Power-Con in September. Yes, an unofficial Masters of the Universe vehicle will be ready for you if you’re willing to drop the cash on it.

Visit Amaro's blog!

I need to figure out the logistics and price but it will be a very very limited run, definitely under 100 pieces. These are hand made.

We talked about having it in some type of packaging so we can use Rudy’s awesome painting!

The plan right now is to have it ready for Power Con in September.

I suspect that the first completely unofficial and new Masters of the Universe-inspired action figure is closer than I first suggested in my post yesterday. I can’t wait to see how this vehicle works out.
