Transforming Collections – Hercules vs. Giant Comparison Pages

I’ll continue to collect comments on the latest page layout test that I posted to Kickstarter yesterday, but with the majority of responses leaning toward ten pages instead of twenty pages I thought I’d post these two pages to help give a better idea of what smaller and fewer images would look like.

The pages above shows what devoting twenty pages to the unofficial Constructicons could look like while the pages below show what happens if we cut this section of the book down to ten pages.

One other change is to experiment with using fewer words and a graphic to identify the toys on the page. Thinking about it, I thought that using the name of each toy once on a page and then marking the images with a small icon (in color) might save some space. As always, any opinions on how the book is coming together would be appreciated.

  1. Personally, I think the top pages (20 Pages) seem a little cluttered whereas the bottom pages (10 Pages) seem better balanced (Just the right amount of “White Space”), with the photos getting across what they need to & the graphics work quite well also.

The use of the Names of each figure just once looks quite good too IMO, just my thoughts & I hope they’ve been constructive. 😉

Best of luck with the rest of the production Philip,

  2. I’d agree with the above comment, the second spread feels cleaner, better balanced. As much as I love Hercules and Giant, 20 pages is probably a lot for just those figures. I don’t know if you need to cut it down to 10, if that doesn’t feel like enough, would 14 or 16 do?

Plus, it seems to me that those two sets are particularly well publicized right now, maybe the space could be devoted to less known items?

  3. Thanks for the feedback, guys! I think we’ll see something more like twelve pages in the end (I want to touch on some of the Hercules upgrades).
