Star Wars INT-4 Mini-Rig Patent Drawings

After recent looks at unproduced Star Wars Mini-Rig toys (see “Spotted Online – Unproduced Star Wars Mini-Rig Concept Model” and “Spotted Online – Original Star Wars Mini-Rig Concept Models”) the Mini-Rig fun continues with the INT-4 patent . . . which you can view at Google.

Patent drawings are an incredible thing and it’s sad that this art style is basically gone today. I’d love to see an enterprising artist take a shot at drawing toys in this style today and would even go so far as to pay for a book of modern toys illustrated as patent drawings. I know, I’m weird.

This isn’t the first time that the INT-4 Mini-Rig has been seen here at battlegrip.com: I reviewed this classic Star Wars toy way back in 2009 — INT-4 Star Wars Mini-Rig review here — though looking back at the review makes me think I should probably snap new photos of the toy since I think my toy photography has dramatically improved since the review was first posted.

  1. I actually still have this toy and came across it just the other day while packing. It’s still really neat to look at and was a pretty cool idea.

I only had a few full-size Star Wars toys as a kid and they could get pricey. This line was a lot of fun since they were much cheaper than the full-size vehicles and had their own funkiness to them. I also remember this being my introduction to “non-canon” toys, since I was all excited to see this in the next movie and very confused when it never showed up ANYWHERE! Now I wish I’d picked up the others when they were released, but they were hard enough to find as it was.

  2. Just chiming in to say that this is one of my favorite mini-rigs! They look jettisoned heads from the walkers that take off and fly. YOU CANNOT GET COOLER THAN THAT.

I try and scoop them up whenever I can. My other two favs are the MLC-3 and AST-5. The ISP-6 is pretty cool too, but I’ve yet to find one intact at a decent price (in good condition).
